Measuring by weight is more precise, but bringing a powder scale to the range os a pain, and bringing one hunting seems ridiculous. Thanks for any information about these rifles. The dovetails on a CVA Hawken are metric (don't know the exact size) smaller than the 3/8 sights most suppliers have. I bought the 3/8 and with a little judicious filing on them they fit the CVA dovetails. I didn't want to enlarge the dovetails in case I went back to the stock sights. The front & rear are the same size.
